Synopsis
It’s 2112, and America is sinking…
Massive flooding has displaced millions of coastal city dwellers, leaving countless orphans adrift. A surge in virtual-reality addiction and waves of cyber-attacks have computer programmers beating their laptops into plowshares as a technology-wary public seeks to return to its agrarian roots.
In Twinkletown, Nebraska, the death of prominent agricultural investor Richard Reine threatens the future of one of its most prosperous estates—not to mention the pocketbooks of his adult children, who have been inexplicably left out of the will.
Fleeing the ruins of NYC, eleven-year-old Frances is given a mysterious gold coin. When similar coins begin cropping up across the country, Frances finds herself the reluctant member of a ragtag group of orphans, handpicked by Reine as the unlikely inheritors of his multibillion-dollar fortune—but only if they risk it all in a grand pursuit at the First World’s Fair.
About the venue
The Paul Robeson Cultural and Performing Arts Center, dedicated in 1978, is named in honor of Paul Robeson, renowned scholar, athlete, and star of stage and screen. The Robeson Center houses the art and music departments, classrooms, and studios. The building includes an 850-seat auditorium equipped for presentations in music, dance, and theater as well as a small recital hall. Dr. Camille O. and William H. Cosby commissioned a large sculpture of Robeson, which sits in front of the Center.
